about Steve…

At 18 years old, equipped with a high school diploma and one month's rent in savings, Steve Mazzaro packed his old Camry and left his small hometown in Ohio to pursue the dream of film music in the City of Angels. Over the next few years, Steve's days were spent hustling as a law firm file clerk, followed by nights scoring short films, video games, and finally collaborating with London-based Silva Screen Productions in their film music division. Steve excelled at digital orchestral production and part of his role at Silva was creating covers of pre-existing famous film scores. The remote capability of his writing rig coupled with the absurdity of Los Angeles real estate, he decided to head back to the Midwest. With a moving van booked and cardboard boxes folded, Steve suddenly received a strange email with the subject line: Hans Zimmer wants to see you. His stomach sank: "Oh sh*t... I must be getting sued."

However, much to his surprise (and relief), the Oscar-winning composer was actually so impressed with Steve's work, he offered him a rare and coveted composer position at his Santa Monica based studio, Remote Control Productions.

In the following 10 years since, Steve has been given title credits on No Time To Die, Army of Thieves, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge On The Run, The Rhythm Section, The Boss Baby 1 + 2, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Icebox, and Bullet To The Head. Steve’s collaborations with Zimmer also include Dune, Wonder Woman 1984, Widows, X-Men: Dark Phoenix, The Lion King, Dunkirk, Batman vs. Superman, Interstellar, Man of Steel, and Inferno among many other projects. Steve has collaborated with other film composers as well, such as Lorne Balfe (13 Hours, Assassin’s Creed), Geoff Zanelli (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales), and Rupert Gregson-Williams (Aquaman, Hacksaw Ridge).

Steve joined Hans on stage during his 2016 and 2017 world tours, playing in arena-sized venues and Coachella. In addition to performing guitar and keyboards, he worked closely with Hans to arrange and produce all the music for the live shows.
